🍽What Do I Serve With This Casserole Dish?

This Peach Almond and Caramel Self-Saucing Pudding is delicious on its own, but if you're looking to elevate your dessert experience, consider these serving suggestions:

  • Vanilla Ice Cream: A scoop of vanilla ice cream adds a creamy contrast to the warm pudding.
  • Whipped Cream: Light and fluffy whipped cream pairs perfectly with the rich caramel sauce.
  • Fresh Berries: Strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries add a refreshing touch and a burst of color.

⏲️Chef's Tip

Use Fresh Peaches When in Season: If peaches are in season, consider using fresh ones instead of canned. Simply peel, pit, and slice the fresh peaches before arranging them on the batter. This will add an extra level of freshness and natural sweetness to your pudding.

Experiment with Flavour Add-Ins: For a little twist, try adding a teaspoon of almond extract to the wet ingredients for a more pronounced almond flavor. Alternatively, you can mix in a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the caramel sauce for a warm, spicy undertone.

Ensure Even Baking: To make sure that your pudding bakes evenly, it's important to rotate the dish halfway through the baking time. This will help to avoid any hot spots in the oven and ensure a golden-brown top.

Test for Doneness: Check the pudding's doneness by inserting a toothpick into the cake layer. If it comes out clean or with a few crumbs, the pudding is ready. However, remember that the toothpick should not come out wet, as the caramel sauce at the bottom will always be gooey.

Cool Slightly Before Serving: Allow the pudding to cool for about 10 minutes after baking. This gives the sauce a chance to thicken slightly, making it easier to serve without being too runny.

Customize with Nuts: For added texture, consider sprinkling some chopped almonds, pecans, or walnuts over the top of the batter before baking. This will give the pudding a delightful crunch that complements the soft cake and gooey sauce.
