Onion, garlic, potatoes, butter, milk, fresh thyme, salt, pepper, shredded Gruyere, and parmesan
In a saucepan, add the onions, thyme, and garlic. Sir in the milk and bring to a simmer. Let cook, stirring regularly, as directed, then season with salt and pepper and blend.
Slice the potatoes thin and begin layering them in the baking dish with potatoes, sauce, potatoes, sauce and so forth.
Cover and bake for 1 hour, then remove the foil and top with cheese before continuing to cook. Broil for added color.
